2013 Hair Trends - Waterfall Braids

Following the trends of yesteryears, fabulous braids are popping up everywhere on people’s heads. If last year was the year of fishtails, this year we are introduced to a more elegant style of braids called “waterfall” style.

Glam UpWaterfall style, a.k.a. ‘fairytale style’, is an elegant variation of a French Braid, which is one of the perfect ways to glam hairstyle up.

Surprisingly Simple, yet PlayfulThe waterfall braid is a cute detail that adds a playful, yet elegant touch to your overall aspect, despite its simplistic, subtle look. You can achieve this style easily, following a few basic steps. In fact, this hairstyle is a version of French braid, but with a softer, rather imperfect vibe. The best thing is that you can make another variation starting with the cascade plait and create a healthy, bold side braid.

How To Do A Waterfall Braid- Separate a section behind your left ear and start by dividing hair into an ordinary 3-strand braid.- After 4 weaves, drop one strand and gather a new strand of hair that pulls the braid in the desired direction.- Repeat until you achieve desired length.

Curly weaves are a nice substitute to any hair types or textures and a great way to spice up your style. Here are some tips to keep your curly weave hot and fresh for as long as you want:
Protect What’s UnderneathOne of the best benefits of wearing extensions is that it gives your own hair a break from daily styling. Weaves are nice because you can braid your own hair and leave it alone. Just make sure you continue to mositurize, condition it and treat it properly. Also, wear a net over your own hair and have the extensions sewn onto the net instead of your hair.
Match the Right TextureUnlike straight weaves, one of the tricky parts about wearing curly extensions is finding a texture that closely matches your own hair. Talk with your stylist to find a texture that you’re comfortable with. Also, if you see someone out and about wearing a fabulous weave, don’t be afraid to stop and pay her a compliment. This breaks the ice for you to also ask her where she purchased her hair from (“HairSisters, hey!”).
Before Hitting the SackSleeping on a head full of cascading curls is a fine art, but one that you can master with a little patience and practice. Part your hair in the center and create two chunky braids on each side. Then let it out in the morning and fluff it with your fingers. Also, the steam from your shower will help the hair to expand back to its original fullness. Also, make sure your edges are extra moisturized before you go to bed to prevent dryness.
Product OverloadAvoid the temptation to overload your curly hair with products. You don’t want to use a lot of mousse at all, and you definitely don’t want to use a lot of alcohol because curly textures tend to get dry faster than another type of hair. It’s just like natural hair. It gets really dry. Use light oils that penetrate into the cuticles and do not sit on top of the hair.
